The tiny island of Forvik, population one, part of the Shetland Islands, has declared independence

No, this is not one of Michael5000's Forgotten Lands... it is a REAL ISLAND.

The owner of the island, Stuart "Captain Calamity" Hill promises to issue currency, stamps and a new flag.

I wonder how long it will take for the Brits to send someone over there to slap him around a bit.
ReplyDeleteHopefully we'll get to see his flag, stamps, and currency first. :-D
ReplyDeleteThey have been quite indulgent with Sealand over the the years:

Some of the Forgotten Lands are islands....
ReplyDeleteI want my own island too! :)
ReplyDeletePlease, if you do like Forvik, see our latest maps at Forvik.net. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteAlthough Stuart Hill calls the island Forvik, it's actual name is Forewick Holm. (http://shetlopedia.com/Forewick_Holm) Stuart has chosen the name of Forvik (or Forvick) from a Norwegian word.

The flag is now ready, the coins are being designed and they're even going to create passports.
what gives a person from kent to claim he owns an island in north scotland, just another person trying to capitalise on our heritage!!
ReplyDeleteNo more right than the little island of Britain claiming 1/2 the world less than 100 years ago... :-)
