There is a section of Dayton, full of galleries, restaurants, night clubs (and adult book stores) that is called the Oregon District. It is probably the "hippest" part of town.
Why is it called the Oregon District? The origin of the name Oregon is remote and uncertain. It appears in local histories and early newspapers, as of March 11, 1845... but no one really knows why.
"Oregon Express"? What's THAT all about?
