Desktop Earth
Cartofan Joel recommends his favorite desktop wallpaper application for all its mappish goodness. Desktop Earth:
Desktop Earth is a wallpaper program that shows what Earth looks like from space. The program can be configured to update regularly, changing the view based on local time or seasons.
You can also adjust what time zone the desktop focuses on. I have mine set to "noon" so the map scrolls while noon is always in the center of the desktop. I use it as a visual "clock" Oh and don't forget that the cloud cover is dynamically updated every 3 hours to match satellite images.
