Rugs of the Willing

This blog contains all sort of interesting images from art, posters and advertising from, I am guessing, Russia or Ukraine...

On this page, the blogger has pulled together photos of rugs, including map rugs! Made in Afghanistan? Perhaps these two rugs are marketed to U.S. soldiers, and other particpants in the so-called Coalition of the Willing.

Map Rugs for Home & Classroom

A few months back, I blogged about a relief map rug. Here's another map rug from World Maps Online:

These map rugs appear to be designed with the classroom in mind. In fact, the rug depicted above is actually a large game board for use with the STOPS Geography Trivia Game.

However, I think this Earthworks Rug would make a nice addition to a family room. I would enjoy having it in my home.

Relief Map Rug

"The Carpet is constructed from many little 'foam-bars' in different colours and heights. Together these 'foam-bars' show an image of a landscape in color and a relief in height."

Dutch company, Studio Laurens van Wieringen, offers a map you can walk on. With your barefeet you can even discern elevation!

Thanks for Boing Boing for bringing this one to my attention.
