Won't You Be My Neighbor?
What if all 300,000,000 Americans lived in one place, packed as densely as Brooklyn? Where would we fit?
Surprise! It's New Hampshire.

UPDATE 3/22: A helpful reader, kshep, tells me that this infographic was created by Shane Keaney as part of a contest on Good.is. Thanks!

Couldn't they move it a little farther south, like, say, Maryland?
Maybe we could just put a dome over the whole thing...
Who'd grow the food?
We'll leave a dozen people and some robots in Iowa.
"We'd all be neighbors" - Sick! Neighbors are anti-American. Neighbors are unpatriotic. Neighbors are socialists. But, neighbors better pay taxes, so I can enjoy all my public services!
No office buildings? Swt!
A dome? Sounds to me like the city in "Logan's Run."
Anyway, the reason we don't already live as close as the people in Brooklyn is because WE DON'T WANT TO.
And if we get bombed, we'd be an easy target.
Oh, no! Not if we had a BOMB PROOF dome!
Jeez, the traffic would be horrendous.
But I cannot wait to post the Transit Map!
Here's a link to the original post, with a few other similar infographics: http://www.good.is/post/design-an-infographic-about-neighborhoods-submissions
Yes, I saw it on Good. But good is just reposting it from somewhere else, right? But now I can see that the full name of the designer is Shane Keaney.
Ah, I see it was some sort of infographics contest, with many other interesting map graphics. Thanks!
If you did the same thing with Canada's population, you could fit them into Hong Kong with 131 square miles to spare for parks.
