Dayton Music Fest
The Fifth Annual Dayton Music Fest, a showcase of the Dayton Indie Rock scene, is this Saturday. I love the poster this year:
Stamps, postcards, advertising, coffee mugs, shirts, and other ephemera. I love maps, and maps as an element of design.

"Oregon Express"? What's THAT all about?
There is a section of Dayton, full of galleries, restaurants, night clubs (and adult book stores) that is called the Oregon District. It is probably the "hippest" part of town.
Why is it called the Oregon District? The origin of the name Oregon is remote and uncertain. It appears in local histories and early newspapers, as of March 11, 1845... but no one really knows why.
Do you pronounce it with two syllables? I bet you do, don't you.
Sorry, `fraid not.
Really?!? You pronounce it CORRECTLY?!? But that's awesome!
Here in "Oh-hiya" we pronoounce it "O-re-gon"
Actually, I don't really know anyone that says "Oh-hiya"...
