New York City Subway Map Fabric

I'm catching up on fun maps during Transit Map Theme Week here at Cartophilia.

The City Quilter of New York City "specializes in fabric for the urban quilter and sewer" (oh, sew-er, I had to re-read that before I understood they weren't talking about the underground sanitary system...) including New York themed fabric patterns like this:

The New York City Subway System is available in three backgrounds (white, beige and black).

Other New York City themed fabrics; taxis and the New York Times:

"New York Themed"
I love the way New Yorkers think they're the only city in the world that has subways, taxis and newspapers!

Fair enough... although it cannot be denied that only NYC has the NYC subway and NYT....

I assumed they were just an online dealer, but they have a brick-n-mortar store. Their "spacious 2,500 foot store has more than 3,000 bolts of 100% cotton fabric." cool.

I'm curious how the subway pattern repeats itself. Surely it can't be a seamless pattern.

I was looking at that too. Without going to the trouble of actually comparing it to the real transit map, it looks to me like they just took a small sample of the downtown and then took a few liberties to connect it to the repeating pattern.

a highly inaccurate subway map of NYC...but fun nonetheless and it accurately replicates the colors (and confusion) of the official MTA map. I'm certainly enjoying using a subway while I still can!!!
